Safety by Design: Building a Protected Story Space at Taley

Open feeds and endless recommendations do not fit the calm story world we want to build for children. Taley is therefore being designed as a bounded, audio-first space where safety, parental control, and age-aware choices are considered before beta begins.

💡 Key Takeaways

  • No open feed: Our product vision favors stories with a clear beginning and end over endless scrolling.
  • Layered by design: Inputs and outputs are intended to be checked automatically, tested, and bounded by defined themes.
  • Data-minimizing design: Parents should understand data flows, control settings, and receive clear information before beta.
  • Audio First: Stories are intended to require as little screen time as possible and leave room for imagination.

Why a Bounded Story Space Matters

Parents want digital experiences where they do not have to reassess every next piece of content. Open platforms often combine content, recommendations, and advertising in ways that are hard to predict.

Taley follows a different product idea: no public uploads, no social feed, and no ad-funded recommendation loop. Instead, each story should be generated within defined product boundaries and remain understandable to parents.

"At Taley, safety is not a feature you have to search for in the settings. Safety is the foundation of our architecture."

Our Goal: a Bounded Story Space

For beta, we are developing Taley as a closed story space without public links, stranger uploads, or an uncontrolled feed. Parents should be able to understand and manage themes, details, and use.

🛡️ The Planned Safety Layers

Generative systems are not error-free. Rather than relying on one check, we intend to combine several technical and editorial measures:

  1. 1. Bounded inputs.
Age-aware themes and input checks should catch unsuitable requests before a story is created.
  2. 2. Output checks.
Automated rules and classifiers should check text for unsuitable language and themes and reject problematic output.
  3. 3. Testing and clear limits.
Before and during beta, we want to test typical and difficult cases, learn from feedback, and document limits openly. No filter can guarantee zero errors.

Data Privacy: Your Children Are Not Products

In the digital age, privacy is part of protecting children. Many supposedly free products are funded through attention or data. Our goal for Taley is a transparent offer without advertising profiles for children; we will disclose pricing and concrete data flows before beta testing.

Our Development Principles

🔎 Transparent Data Flows

Before beta, we intend to explain the services, storage locations, recipients, and possible international transfers in clear language.

🎙️ Voice-Data Protection

Voice features should be explicitly triggered, data-minimizing, and controlled by parents. We will publish concrete storage and deletion periods once the beta technology is final.

🚫 No Ad-Tracking

The product vision is ad-free and avoids advertising profiles. We will disclose the technical services required by beta before testing begins.

A Calmer Kind of Experience

To us, safety also includes how a product feels. Taley should not depend on flashing rewards, streaks, or an endless feed. It should center on a story that holds attention and then reaches a natural ending.

Taley is Audio-First. This means:

  • The screen can (and should) be turned off.
  • No visual stimuli overloading the brain.
  • A natural end: When the story is over, it is over. No "Autoplay" into infinity.

Common Questions about Safety

Does Taley listen to my child permanently?

The voice feature is still being developed. Our goal is deliberate activation without passive, always-on recording. We will document the exact implementation before beta.

Are AI stories really safe?

No generative system can rule out every error. Taley is being designed with bounded themes, layered automated checks, testing, and parental controls. We intend to communicate beta findings and limits openly.
